Andres Felipe Candamil was born in Manizales (Caldas Colombia) in 1980. He started his Musical Studies in 1991 in the Student Band from Villamaria (Caldas), conducted by Carlos E. Acevedo. Subsequently, he entered to the basic course of musical studies of the Fine Arts Faculty from the Caldas University (Universidad de Caldas) where he studied with Professor Hernan Dario Gutierrez. After high school he moved to Bogotá and was admitted to the Music Conservatory from the National University of Colombia (Universidad Nacional de Colombia), where he obtained his University degree as Clarinetist Musician with emphasis on Pedagogy in 2006. He studied in this University with professors Robert D'Gennaro and Hector Pinzon.
He joined the Symphonic Band and the Symphony orchestra from the Conservatory of Music of the National University of Colombia from 1998 to 2005. From 1999 to 2001 he became a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Cundinamarca, conducted by Manuel Cubides. In 2001 he joined the Symphonic Band of Cundinamarca, until 2005. On November 2004 and January 2006 he was selected to represent Colombia in the Sixth and Seventh Latin-American Clarinetists Festival in the city of Caracas, Venezuela, where he attended master classes with international professors as Jonathan Cohler (USA), Luis Rossi (Argentina), Antonio Saiote (Portugal), Pablo Sergio Santos (Brazil), Ronald Van Spaendonck (Belgium), Jorge Montilla (Venezuela), and Edgar Pronio (Venezuela). In 2005 he won the "Lunes de los Jovenes Interpretes" competition from the Luis Angel Arango Library (Bogotá), and performed a solo recital in its concert hall.
He was a member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, conducted by Ernesto Diaz. With this orchestra he performed the Mozart Concerto in A Major in 2005, the Tomasi concerto for clarinet and string orchestra, and the Mozart quintet for clarinet and strings in 2006. From 2003 to 2006, he worked as Clarinet professor in the school of music from the same institution. He has played with many orchestras and ensembles in South Florida, including the Hollywood Philharmonic (Hollywood, FL), South Beach Chamber Ensemble (Miami Beach, FL), International School of Music Orchestra (Miami, FL), FIU Wind Ensemble (FIU), Doral Conservatory and School of the Arts (Miami, FL), The Treasure Coast Opera Society (Ft. Pierce, FL), Sociedad Pro-Arte Gratelli and Saul Vera Ensemble.
Mr. Candamil has appeared on many local and national TV shows such as Despierta America, Un nuevo Dia, Titulares y Mas, Show Business, Sabado Gigante and "Premios Juventud" 2013. Andres Felipe is a clarinetist in the Miami Symphony Orchestra.
