Timothy McCollum graduated from the University of Michigan with Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Education degrees in String Instruments. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army as a member of the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, New York, playing piccolo in the marching band and violin in various chamber ensembles. While stationed at West Point, McCollum continued his violin studies with Isidore Cohen. Other studies have been with Carol Glenn, Sidney Harth and Thomas Moore. Mr. McCollum came to Marshfield in 1974 where he was the Marshfield High School Orchestra Director and instructor of string instruments in the elementary schools until his 2010 retirement. He directed the Marshfield/Wood County Symphony for eight seasons, where he had been concertmaster, and has been associate concertmaster of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra since 1984. McCollum is active as a private violin and viola teacher in Central Wisconsin.
